After deciding that the weatherman was on the pipe again we (me, fishtruck, Chris 2, minus Chase This! since it was too rough for his blood) departed SS Marina at 2:00 am last friday (6/4). As we were leaving port I was trying to adjust my screen brilliance and did a couple of zig zags and out of the black the Coast Guard pulls behind us and says "you all haven't been drinking - have you?" We all replied no which was the truth strangly enough. Then we went for our adventure and were greated by "mean" LOL 2ft seas at the jetties. Decided to slow boat it until day light to save on the fuel burn and got to the new shallow water floater about 45 miles out at sunrise. We then picked up and ran to Tequila and arrived at 8:15. There wasn't much life on the surface and the water was off color. Since we were primarily after the blue suit we spent several hours on the troll there but no takers. So, off to the Hill Tops for several passes by the "tops" but the weed was diffuse and trolling was a pain in arse. The Cervezas on the horizon and in the cooler were calling our name so over we went with good blue water in the area. Proceeded to troll the rigs with a premier spread and soon enough spotted something busting the top. Trolled over it when the left rigger goes off and excitment was avail but soon squashed as the line broke and on examination it was most likely a hoo do. After several more minutes another line goes off and anticipation was met with nothing other than a JACK CREVELLE who bit a marlin lure at 10 mph - who would have thunk it.

On that note and since this was a modified "day trip" we decided to get some meat with deep drops which produced jacks and a scamp then headed to the 22 1/2s to get our limit of rare Red Bait Fish then back to port. Interestingly enough we did not see another boat all day so I guess the weatherman did his job and scared most from going although I understand Booby Trap was lurking somewhere out there with us.

All in all a good day trip and now with the wind blowing I glad we took the opportunity to get our fix on!

Tight Lines,

AGF

I'm with you Daniel, I guess we're gonna have to wait for the green water and smelly crevalle's to move inshore, where they both belong. Them bastages are everywhere!

Yeah we were out there fishing on the Booby Trap in that nice kingfish green water also...left the office at 1 friday afternoon, got to our first spot with 3 hours of daylight left...daydropped and fouled our gear the first drop after soaking for an hour>>>dropped again and coulnd't get bit...swordfished that night and had about a 20 pound turd beat 4 squids up then follow one to the boat...decided to move...fished all night till 5 and didn't get bit again...fished all day the next day for swordies and got a couple squids smashed but couldn't get tight....came home first time I can remember coming in without a flag flying on the Booby Trap....I am sure that will change this week.....Get tight sukka.......
