Well, it was the best cruise out and in I have had in a long long time. Tons of blackfin at Nancen (good ones), but no YFT. No Marlin trolling Friday or Saturday. Trolled for hours on end, nada.

Lot's of big boats out there including Boobytrap, Pass It On, Out Law, Pipe Dream, etc., all reporting the same, no fish.

Shane was out there in the Minnow. He was the only one I chatted with that had a yellowfin, 40 pounder.

Oh well, I'd do it all over again!!!

Thanks. Conditions match the results. No doubt. Oh well, it's where we got to fish. Hopefully something changes soon.

I tell ya, I really would like to hear an explanation for the complete LACK of weeds out there. We didn't see jack.

How many boats were Nancen? I have a PM from a guy who fished there Friday night and he said he a 60lb Yellowfin.

We got our lone Yellowfin pretty quick...4th or 5th fish in the box...

Wow. All the radio chat was about the poor fishing. Capt. Bret (Boobytrap) said something like "this is the worst fishing he has seen in a long time". When they an't catch fish, I don't feel so bad.

Several. But it was so slow, they drifted off pretty early, and I had the place to myself plus one CC.

Good Report sucks the fish didn't cooperate, but I guess at the end of the day we're lucky to do what we get to do....

I feel really lucky, that we went the day before, I guess the conditions changed or less boat traffic.

What's everyone's opinion on the slow down in fishing? 2 weeks ago it was crazy and now it just stopped - i know the altimetry is getting to be crap out there, anyone have any other thoughts?

Where da fish at!?!?!?

When the altimetry goes to shit so does the current in many situations. If you don't have .5 knots of current the bite is going to suffer. But you nailed it, when we smacked that ass at Diana the altimetry was Dyno-Mite out there we were on the northern edge of the same loop that was producing fish down at Clyde. Everytime I ever wear them out and run to Gunny the altimetry is lined up well too. I put ALOT of stock in Altimetry, maybe too much. One thing that I have learned is that when good altimetry shows up it takes it a while to start "producing". Just because you see blue to green or blue to purple does not mean the process is really cranking out there yet. I know guys in Venice that will not even look at altimetry until it has been there for minimum two weeks. I tend to think a few days is good enough for tuna, maybe not marlin. That upwelling that drove all the fish down South was there for MONTHS. It turned into a petting zoo. Anyway theres my 411 for the day. DM

Yeah, that has to be it; it's the only thing that has changed really since the fishing started sucking. It's interesting that the last week is the most dynamic the altimetry change has been in months as well. I guess all the fishes must have gone to the east, hopefully it keeps changing for the better sooner than later! Regardless, i'll be monitoring it closely...
